Pahtakivi 1 is situated 70 km north of Sodankylä. The shared lakeshore of the Porttipahta artificial lake is about 100 m away. The lakeshore has a shared campfire site. The nearby shore is gently sloping with a hard gravel/sand bottom, and larger stones in some places. Porttipahta is regulated, and the water level varies.
The kelo log cabin was built in 1989. The combined kitchen/living room has 2 fixed bunk beds, with the lower bed being wider. The sauna features a wood-heated stove, and the shower is located in the sauna room. There is an indoor toilet and an open porch. An alternative sleeping area is the low loft with mattresses, accessed by vertical stairs. Inside the cabin, there is a small cellar and an air-source heat pump with a cooling function.
The terrace features a hot tub that can be used year-round and is available for an additional fee. Guests are responsible for heating, draining, and cleaning the tub themselves. For €200, you can have the owner heat, drain, and clean the tub for you.

The grill shelter in the yard is available for guests to use, shared with the other cabin, Pahtakivi 2 (18229), and includes tableware. Excellent remote working opportunities are available, with fiber-optic Wi-Fi in both the cabin and the grill shelter. The cabin offers modern conveniences such as fiber-optic Wi-Fi, a Smart TV, and a Bluetooth speaker.
Pets are welcome, and the cabin is comfortably heated with electric heating, an air-source heat pump, and a fireplace.
Pahtakivi 1 is also suitable for larger groups when rented together with the adjacent Pahtakivi 2 cabin.
Note: If the final cleaning is not ordered, please remember to clean the cabin and grill shelter before departure. If the cleaning is not properly done by the guest, the owner will charge a 300 euro final cleaning fee afterward.
Cottage can be booked no later than 7 days before arrival.
For bigger groups other cottage in the yard area, cottage 18229 Pahtakivi 2, (20 m away) available for additional fee.
Charging an electric car isn’t possible, but there are heated outlets for two cars. The distances are convenient: the body of water is about 100 meters away, and the nearest store is 17 km away. The national park is 25 km away, and the snowmobile trail is just 500 meters away. The ski resort and trails are 58 km away, but the trails offer as much as 200 km of skiing opportunities.
Porttipahta reservoir is very suitable for fishing, fish stock e.g. trout, whitefish, perch, pike and burbot. Fishing managemant fee is needed for lure fishing with one rod. Ice fishing and angling are free of charge. Inquire fishing trips from the owner!
Kiveliön Kala -cafe and minimarket 3 km, Vuotso 17 km, Tankavaara, Gold Village and the UKK National Park Visitor Centre 25 km, Saariselkä 50 km, Sodankylä 70 km. The nearest restaurant in Tankavaara 25 km.
Fishing harbor 500 m; often possibility to buy fresh fish from fishermen. There is also a pier in fishing harbor. The municipally maintained harbor has a concrete boat ramp and a dock; you can also pick up ice there (the ice room door can be opened by paying via text message).
