In a peaceful location in the Paalasmaa archipelago, this cozy and partially accessible (wheelchair ramp, no thresholds) high-quality holiday home is set on a four-hectare estate. Paalasmaa, Finland's highest island, is a beautiful and rugged archipelago in the middle of the pristine waters of Lake Pielinen. The journey to Paalasmaa is breathtaking, with its many bridges. There is a year-round ferry connection to the archipelago. The terrain is suitable for hiking and cycling. Paalasmaa is located in Eastern Finland, 104 km from Joensuu and 139 km from Kuopio, both of which have airports and train connections.
Mäntylä is located on the Second Island of Paalasmaa. The farm is idyllic and secluded, surrounded by beautiful birch and pine forests. The nearest house is an abandoned building 290 m away, and the nearest inhabited house is 300 m away, with no visual contact to these.
A birch-lined path (200 m) leads to the lakeshore of Lake Pielinen. There is 50 m of private shoreline. The shore is shallow, gently deepening with a sandy-clay bottom, featuring a pier and a small lakeside sauna (water carried in, no electricity). A campsite on the opposite shore is within rowing distance (300 m). Between the shore and the holiday home is a lightly trafficked road belonging to the Second Island.
The holiday home (120 m²) was built in 1999 and fully renovated and furnished in 2026. It has a porch surrounded by terraces, a spacious entrance, and a combined kitchen/living room with a sofa bed (140 cm when extended), a fireplace-baking oven, a dining table, a kitchen island with seating, and a fully new kitchen setup. The TV is an Android TV. There are two bedrooms, each with 2 beds that can be combined. The third bedroom has a desk and a sink. There is an electric sauna, a shower room, a dressing room, 2 separate toilets, and 2 porches. The utility room includes a washing machine and dryer, a water heater, and a sink. The porch adjacent to the sauna has a second refrigerator, and next to the front door is a cozy terrace (5 m²). In front of the house, on the terrace (30 m²), there are terrace furniture and a lounge sofa.
The yard features a vegetable garden, a potato patch, currant bushes, and raspberries. Guests can use the garden produce during their stay, but not for preservation or to take away. The yard's outbuilding with porches can be used for leisure and activities. The lawn is suitable for summer games. Available for use are a dartboard, badminton, and pétanque. The well has been dug into the spring
Use of the shed can be arranged separately with the owner. The non-electric shed is suitable for storing personal (winter) sports equipment and for car shelter.
Excellent berry and mushroom picking areas nearby.
